Drawn in ash and light,
this piece captures no face,
no crown, no sky—
only the torn flesh of the Son of Man,
hanging between earth and heaven,
suspended in stillness
where judgment and mercy meet.
The medium—charcoal and gesso—
speaks of dust and glory:
black for the weight of sin,
white for the wound that bleeds light.
Here, in stark contrast,
the Savior's pierced side opens
like a door in the dark—
water and blood
flowing not just from Him,
but into us.
The torso alone is shown,
to silence the noise of narrative
and focus the gaze on incarnation’s cost—
a ribcage collapsed,
muscles stretched thin like torn veils,
the lacerated side where
grace spilled down like a new river
from Eden renewed.
There is no color here
but truth.
No face,
but presence.
No voice,
but the echo of “It is finished.”
This is not just a body;
this is the altar.
This is not just suffering;
this is salvation made visible,
drawn not in oil or gold
but in dust—
the very dust He came to redeem.
