The Glare of the Horizon depicts the myth of the cowboy. His identity is covered in darkness, smoke, and memory. It becomes more than just his identity but encompasses the identity of the rugged wild west. The low tones and blurred strokes pay homage to the myth that is the west, dissolving into the dust and horizon.
The figure in focus calls us back to a time when gunslingers and pioneers forged rough life through rough times. Grit, perseverance, and strength is what the charcoal strokes emulate.
